How this tool works
Shrink image file size and resize photos for web, email, or social media—no software required. Everything runs in your browser; your images never leave your device. We use smart lossy compression for JPEG/JPG and WebP (with adjustable quality) and lossless options where appropriate, so you can balance file size and visual quality.
Common use cases
Use case 1
Reduce image file size for websites, Gmail, Outlook, and email attachment limits without losing too much quality.
Use case 2
Resize photos to fit Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or document and form size limits.
Use case 3
Batch-compress many images and download as ZIP for faster uploads or storage.
Use case 4
Convert HEIC to a smaller format and resize in one step for compatibility and size.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1
Upload one or more images. Supports JPEG/JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WEBP, and HEIC.
Step 2
Set max width and height (or use original size). Use the lock to keep aspect ratio.
Step 3
Adjust the quality slider. Lower quality means smaller files; 70–85% is a good balance.
Step 4
Click "Compress Images" and download. Multiple images can be downloaded as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t my output dimensions match the values I entered?
We scale images to fit inside your max width and height while keeping aspect ratio. So the result may be smaller than the box you set—for example, a 4:3 image in a 1920×1080 box will become 1440×1080. This avoids stretching or cropping.
Is image compression private? Do my images get uploaded?
Yes, it’s private. Your images are processed entirely in your browser. They are never uploaded to our servers, stored, or shared. This ensures complete privacy, which is important for personal photos, IDs, or confidential documents.
Do I need to install software to compress images?
No. Our image compressor works online in your browser without installing any software. You don’t need Photoshop, GIMP, or desktop apps. Just open the page, upload your images, set size and quality, and download.
What are the limitations of browser-based image compression?
Very large images or big batches may take longer or use more device memory, since processing happens locally. On older phones or tablets, try fewer images at a time. For typical photos and web-sized images, the tool runs quickly.
